Wales achieved their best ever results at the UK Visually Impaired Singles Bowls Championships in Nottingham last week.
The Welsh team who were competing against England and Scotland, won seven medals at the competition which took place from the 7th to 10th September.
Julie Thomas won gold in the women’s B2 category, Sheila Kinch achieved silver in the women’s B3, Jack Lloyd won the men’s B1 silver While Alan Jones also won silver in the men’s B3.
Madeleine Roberts and Jonathan Coz won bronze in the men’s and women’s B4, while Gilbert Miles secured bronze in the men’s B2.
Wales Team Manager John Wilson, said “I was very proud to be their manager at Nottingham. Disability Sport Wales have committed to investing in VI Bowls and this has really shown at this tournament. As a team this is our best result yet and shows how we are moving forward.
“To have won medals in every category is outstanding with the icing on the cake being a Gold medal in Ladies ( B2) ” sighted” competition by Julie Thomas. She is now the Welsh & UK Champion , an amazing result for a lady who has no sight at all! I am a very proud coach and Manager.”
