London Storm begin the defence of their Division One title in Leicester today on the opening weekend of the 2017/18 BT Super Series at the Leicester Arena.
Storm go in to the season as one of the favourites to win the title they have won for the past two seasons.
Meanwhile Leicester Tigers will be hoping to use their home advantage to make a strong start to the new season.
The event is free to the public with non-stop action between 9am-7pm on Saturday and 9am-4pm on Sunday. This is a fantastic opportunity for local residents, rugby fans and general sports lovers to enjoy this hard-hitting, fast paced Paralympic sport featuring some world-class athletes.
The BT Super Series is a 20-team set up split over three divisions. There are eight teams in Division One who all play 15 games per season (five per weekend). Each division compete over three separate weekends across the season.
In Division One, the eight teams are split into two pools of four on the Saturday. After playing three games on the opening day they go into the placement games on the Sunday to decide league positions ending with a final between the two best performing teams to decide who goes into the second weekend at the top of the league.
David Pond, CEO of Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby said: “We are excited to be returning to Leicester for this Division One opener and after a challenging six months it is fantastic to see our domestic teams going from strength to strength with the support of Sport England and our sponsors, BT, LMAX and ROMA”
