Great Britain’s top Wheelchair Rugby players and teams will be in action this weekend competing in the 2017 BT National Championships at the Leicester Arena.
The tournament marks the end of the 2016/17 BT Super Series season and will see the six highest ranked teams compete for the national title and a place in the Europa Cup, and the Shield for the next ranked group of teams.
London Storm are the current holders of the Cup, whilst Gaelic Warriors won the Shield in 2016.
The event is free to the public with the action taking place from 09:00-20:30 on Saturday and 09:00-16:00 on Sunday.
David Pond, CEO of GBWR said: “The BT National Championships come at the end of a busy domestic season and brings together teams from all over the country for a fantastic celebration of our sport.
“The knock out format of the tournament is an opportunity for some of the newer clubs to take on the top teams in the country and play alongside and against GB athletes. A big thank you to BT and Roma Sports who sponsor the event and to all our volunteers who help make it happen.”
GBWR also has a JustGiving campaign to raise funds to get the GB team to Tokyo following UK Sports decision to cease all funding – go to www.gbwr.org.uk and find out more.
